An Eye on the Snow

North Carolinian's don't do snow. Obviously.

The bread aisle at Food Lion was empty on Thursday night. A full 24 hours before the snowstorm was projected to hit. Empty, I tell you.

Today, 20 hours after the snow started, the hot chocolate was almost completely sold out.

I tell you. We panic. Or bunker in for the long haul. Or a combination of the two.

Take the three girls in #302. We are on movie number *cough, cough* (no, we're not telling how many chick flick's we've gone through). We have baked cookies and brownies, hiked over three miles through the snow drifts, made and devoured the most delicious chicken broccoli chowder, and are still snowed in.

But, at least we're having fun.

And at least my guests are cooperative when I point the camera at them.

Besides, Maddie has beautiful eyes.



She also has a beautiful laugh.




And a beautiful smile.



Its a beautiful snow day.

In fact, its the happiest of weekends. (Rivaled only by the first weekend of 2010 for the title of "happiest weekend ever.")

I should stop typing. Its time for another chick flick.

Snow Day

My camera and I took a walk this morning. It was quiet. Completely silent. Magical. Peaceful. Somber. Gentle. Cold.

(Considering the fact that my apartment complex overlooks the Interstate, complete silence is unheard of.)

But then the town started waking up. A couple kids spun donuts in a parking lot. A woman hardly got out of the hotel parking lot, spinning desperately for traction. The macho men in their diesel macho man trucks accelerated confidently and smugly. My neighbor took her dog out for a walk.

Its snow.

And, in true southern fashion, life has shut down while snow is on the ground.

But I'm going to enjoy it.
