A few days off

Five weeks in Uganda have come and gone and now come two more.

Unexpected, yes.

Exciting? Of course!

In the previous plan, I would be getting on an airplane tomorrow night and heading home. In the current plan, I don't leave for another 12 days. I love it! Oh, the joys of being young and footloose and fancy free. :-)

We're in Kampala for two nights, enjoying a few nights of luxury (can anyone say "running water"?!) before going back for another round of cooking and dishes in the wilderness. In the meantime, I have internet, electricity, and a flush toilet. :-)

Last Sunday, we took advantage of our day of rest and hired a boat, a guide, and a motor and took an hour-long boat ride out to "Volcano Island" and trekked up to the top; our group took in an amazing view after the crawl through spider-infested bushes. Of course, then we almost weren't allowed to leave because we'd failed to sign the guestbook. ;-) We finally apologized, signed the guestbook, and took our leave of the little island . . . then got to see the sun set over Lake Victoria on our way back home. Wowee. What an unbelievable day.

Again, more pictures will come when the days of predictable internet return.
